The Flaming Lips are hosting the ‘World’s First Space Bubble Concert’ later this year

The concert takes place on December 11

The Flaming Lips have announced the “World’s First Space Bubble Concert,” which will see the band and the audience all in giant plastic bubbles on December 11th at Oklahoma City’s The Criterion.

“It’s a bizarre situation for sure,” frontman Wayne Coyne explains to Brooklyn Vegan. “I mean, I’m not suggesting the whole world should do it this way. I’m just saying the Flaming Lips can try it this way, and if you like our music, you can come see us. You’ll have to be in one of these space bubbles, but maybe that’ll be a good thing.”

The band did a space bubble show test run at The Criterion a few months back, and it later became their video for “Assassins of Youth.”

There are only 100 tickets available, and they go on sale on Friday, November 13th.
