If you’re planning on taking a trip across the city this weekend, you better outline a route that does not involve the Gardiner Expressway.
The Gardiner will be shutdown from Highway 427 to the Don Valley Parkway for construction, beginning Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.
#TrafficAlertTO: The Gardiner Expressway will be closed in both directions between Highway 427/QEW and the DVP starting on Friday, May 29 at 11:00 pm until Monday, June 1 at 5 am for maintenance and improvements. Please plan your trip accordingly.

In addition to a significant portion of the Gardiner closing for the weekend, several stretches of Toronto streets will also be closed to automobiles and opening up for pedestrians and cyclists.
The eastbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard East from Coxwell Avenue to south of Woodbine Avenue and Bayview Avenue from Mill Street to Rosedale Valley Road and River Street from Gerrard Street East to Bayview Avenue will all be closed to traffic as of Saturday morning.
“This weekend presents a unique scenario where we balance important expressway maintenance and accelerated construction projects while following through on a commitment to provide space for people to get outside and be active while respecting physical distancing,” Mayor John Tory announced in a Wednesday release.
