Justin Trudeau promised to legalize marijuana during his campaign to become prime minister in 2015 and it looks like his promise will be fulfilled.
According to a CBC article the Liberals will announce next month a new law that will legalize marijuana in Canada next year. The legislation will apparently take effect by July 1, 2018.
The federal government will control the supply, while provinces will control the distribution and market price. Ottawa will be setting the minimum legal age to purchase weed at 18 but provinces will be able to increase the age limit.
According to CBC News, the announcement will happen April 10th.
