The National’s Bryce Dessner is scoring the new Fernando Meirelles Film ‘The Pope’

The film will be released on Netflix in 2019

The National’s Bryce Dessner will be returning to the world of film scoring, as Netflix has just revealed that he’s scoring the upcoming original flick The Pope.

The film stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict and Jonathan Pryce as Pope Francis, and it was directed by Fernando Meirelles of The Constant Gardener, City of God, and Blindness. According to the Film Music Reporter, Dessner recorded the tracks for The Pope with the London Contemporary Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

There still hasn’t been much information released, and it is yet to be revealed whether the music from The Pope will get a full soundtrack release.

In the past, Dessner has scored several films including The Revenant and Richard Says Goodbye.

The Pope is in post production, and will be released on Netflix in 2019.
