The Pack A.D. | Indie88 Live Sessions

Vancouver’s The Pack A.D. last visited us back in 2019 for a performance in our Black Box studio.

Today, the garage rock duo has just released a 10th anniversary reissue of their 2011 album Unpersons, available on Mint Records. They shared with us an acoustic session celebrating the release, performing at-home acoustic versions of “Sirens” and “Seasick,” which both appear on the record.

Unpersons marked a major milestone for the band, who had earned a reputation as a “must-see” band with their incredible live shows. They describe themselves as a “fearless Franken-blend of heavy psychpop/garage-rock.”

With just two performers, guitarist and vocalist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller combine garage rock, pop, punk and blues into one massive slurry of heavy fuzz and relentlessly pounding percussion.

The Pack A.D. recorded Unpersons with famed Detroit producer Jim Diamond, who co-produced the first two White Stripes albums with Jack White.

“The riffs are raw and raunchy, the drums hit like a punch to the gut, and the no-bullshit production highlights the two-piece’s primal power.”

– Alex Hudson, The Tyee

The special reissue of Unpersons is available now on glow in the dark vinyl over at Mint Records.
