One of indie music’s best kept secrets is making his return.

Imagine going to your Wikipedia page only to find that someone updated it to say that you died! That’s apparently what happened to Hayden, so he figured now would be a good time to come out of hiding and re-emerge onto the music scene.

His last release The Place Where We Lived came out in May 2009 – he did no shows or interviews to support that album. He is doing things differently this time around. He joined the Arts & Crafts label and will be releasing a new album Us Alone on February 5th. He is also going out on a small tour to support the release, including three shows at very unique venues in his hometown, Toronto.

He has made some of the songs from the album available to listen to online. Old Dreams is the lead track and it’s classic Hayden. Like a warm blanket that wraps around you sonically. If you’re a fan, you’ll recognize it immediately and love it. If you’re new, it may take a few listens to get used to his unique sound but you’ll be a fan in no time. Rainy Saturday is another single from Us Alone – the music is more upbeat with endearing lyrics that tell a story, which he is known for and is brilliant at.

I’ll write a complete album review when I get my grubby hands on the CD (and vinyl) February 5th and do a show review – I’ll be attending two of the three shows in late February! – LA
