‘The Simpsons’ to Air an Hour-Long Hip Hop Episode

On Jan 15 tune in to the journey of Jazzy James the "lyrical miracle"

This month The Simpsons will be providing us with an hour-long hip hop episode featuring appearances from RZA, Common, and Snoop Dogg.

The episode, which is also Great Gatsby-themed, is entitled The Great Phatsby and will be the series’ first two-part episode to ever be aired back-to-back.

The Great Phatsby will air on January 15th as part of The Simpsons’ 28th season. The episode will air in two subsequent parts, and will include voice work from actors Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henderson.

The Simpsons executive creator, Matt Selman, told NME that the team didn’t initially plan to make the episode a full hour.

“This was just going to be a regular episode, but the table read went so well, in a fit of passion and excitement and ambition and excess, we decided to supersize it,” said Selman. “We haven’t done a huge amount of stories in the world of hip-hop and rap culture, so we just went for it.”
