The Tragically Hip have announced a 30th anniversary expanded deluxe reissue of Road Apples.
The Canadian legends have already celebrated the anniversary of Road Apples with their rarities collection Saskadelphia and an apple cider. Now, The Tragically Hip will share a 30th anniversary reissue of the album on vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray audio. The reissue is out on October 15th via Universal Music Canada.
The Road Apples 30th Anniversary Deluxe editions were carefully created with input from the living members of the Hip. All of the tracks have been remastered this year by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville. The physical CD and Vinyl box sets will contain Dolby Atmos, 7.1, 5.1 and binaural mixes from Richard Chycki. They will also boast 5 tracks from Saskadelphia.

The deluxe box set will also come with a 36-page booklet of essays from Bruce Dickinson and producer/engineer Mark Vreeken, reproductions of original handwritten lyrics from Gord Downie’s notebooks, previously unseen photos from the Kingsway Studio recording sessions and the Road Apples era, and a tribute to late producer Don Smith.
According to a press release, the expansive deluxe reissues will boast the following:
Road Apples Deluxe Physical Box Set:
- Road Apples, the original album re-mastered in 2021 by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville.
- Saskadelphia, as released earlier this year.
- Live At The Roxy Los Angeles, May 3rd 1991, originally recorded for a Westwood One radio show, often bootlegged and sought after by fans for many years. It has been re-mastered and expanded and includes the rare “Killer Whale Tank” version of New Orleans Is Sinking. This legendary Roxy show is now a double vinyl album. This album is available exclusively in physical product.
- Hoof-Hearted, an album of previously unreleased demos, outtakes, and alternate versions.
To tease the release, The Tragically Hip will share a powerful, stripped-down rendition of “Fiddler’s Green” on Friday, September 17th. The recording features Rob Baker on guitar and Gord Downie on vocals.
