The Tragically Hip Unwind With a Fishing Trip in James Bay

Nothing says summer in Canada like a good ol’ fashion fishing trip up North with some good friends. Gord Downie, members of the Tragically Hip and Canadian author Joseph Boyden headed up North early this week following their intensive cross Canada tour.

The Tragically Hip performed their final concert in Kingston last Friday. The event was live streamed and had approximately one third of Canadians watching it. CBC reports that following the fifteen day Man Machine Poem tour the band headed out on their fishing trip along the James Bay Coast. They were accompanied by a group of local aboriginal guides.

The Toronto Sun reported that at The Hips final show in Kingston, Gord Downie took a moment to plead to Prime Minster Justin Trudeau who was in attendance. He asked that better attention be paid to our Northern Indigenous communities and that he believes Canada is currently in good hands with Trudeau leading.

It makes sense that he would choose to relax and recharge in this community he feels so strongly about.
