The Weeknd, along with XO Records creative director La Mar Taylor and Ahmed Ismail, have announced plans to open a new arts facility and artist incubator in Toronto. Hxouse will open in the fall, in conjunction with Artscape TO and Launchpad.
“The facility offers co-working spaces as well as Textiles and Fashion Studio, Fine Metals and Jewellery Studio, Electronics and Hardware Studio, Woodworking Studio, Digital Fabrication Studio, Computer lab, Recording Studio, Motion Capture& Sound Recording Studio, Edit Booths and Photography Studio,” Taylor said in an Instagram post. “This is only the beginning. It’s going to take the whole city and country to help carry this project and pass it down to next generation.”
The Weeknd took to his own Instagram account to share the news.
This project will give aspiring Toronto artists the space and resources they need to launch and manage their careers. Mentorships, an in-house marketing agency, and resources to assist in government grant applications will all be a part of Hxouse’s plan.
