Following the release of his 2012 autobiography Who I Am, the Who’s Pete Townshend has announced that he’s soon releasing his debut novel, The Age of Anxiety.
The book is set for release on November 5th via Hachette Book Group and Coronet Books. The Age of Anxiety is set in London, and reportedly chronicles “the anxiety of modern life and madness in a story that stretches across two generations of a London family, their lovers, collaborators, and friends,” according to a statement.

The guitarist from The Who also unveiled that the novel would be the first of three pieces of the Age of Anxiety project, which will also feature an art installation in addition to an opera.
“Ten years ago I decided to create a magnum opus that would combine opera, art installation and novel,” Townshend reveals in the statement. “Suddenly here I am with a completed novel ready to publish. I am an avid reader and have really enjoyed writing it. I am also happy to say the majority of the music is composed, ready to be polished up for release and performance.”
