In July, the Ford government announced that they would be issuing 50 new cannabis retail licenses across Ontario through a second lottery system where eight licenses would go to businesses in First Nations communities and the other 42 would be spread out throughout Ontario. Now, the 13 winners of Toronto’s new cannabis retail licenses have been announced.
AGCO has released the results of the second cannabis lottery. 42 applicants have been notified to apply for a cannabis Retail Store Authorization in Ontario. https://t.co/0lJbIBsk23

To be considered, prospective retailers had to prove that they have $250,000 in cash or cash equivalents, a letter of credit for $50,000, and a secured retail space, and the winners were then selected at random by a third party. Now, if all stores successfully open, there will be a total of 18 cannabis retailers in Toronto.
