These Hyper Realistic Cakes Look Like Everyday Objects
Imagine you’re at your next birthday party, and your bestie brings you a realistic cake that looks exactly like your dog. I mean, exactly like your dog.
How would you feel knowing you need to cut into his precious little face to be able to eat your birthday cake?
Kinda awkward, right? Well the only reason it is awkward is because the people creating these cakes are BRILLIANT, and they make cakes that look like actual things.
Let’s take a look at 18 hyper-realistic cakes that you won’t believe are cakes! And if you’re in the mood to ruin your childhood, check out these terrifying & realistic Homer Simpson renderings.
Natalie Sideserf, Sideserf Cake Studio
Natalie Sideserf has a bachelor’s degree in fine art, so making incredible cakes was a natural for her. A friend encouraged her to try and make some “bust cakes” and she had so much fun with it, she turned it into a full-fledged business.
Her cakes are wildly realistic, super expensive, and totally deserving of a high price tag because they’re super freaking cool.
Check it out.
#1: The Willie Cake
This piece of art won Natalie Sideserf “Best of Show” in a local baking competition. It also made her work go viral, and skyrocketed her business.
#2: Edible Freddy Kruger
This woman stops at nothing to make her cakes best in show, in all the shows. She spent time researching makeup artist techniques to create this cake that will 100% kill you in your nightmares.
#3: Pickle Pie
Yeah, I know it’s a cake not a pie but who can resist the easy alliteration?
I love how shiny and real the pickle cake looks. Lumpy. Then you bite in and it’s super delicious sweetness all in your mouth. Kinda like when you take a sip of your drink thinking it’s beer and turns out it’s orange soda. Weird… but yummy!
#4: Eggplant Confection
This one is particularly beautiful. The colours! I’d eat the heck out of this.
#5: Spaghetti with Cake Sauce?
Again, a savoury favourite with cake inside. Some of Natalie’s creations take her upwards of 40 hours. Can you imagine how she’d create each individual noodle?
#6: Over-Ripe Banana Cake
Very cool. Looks like this one is coconut as well; it’s all so nicely tied together.
#7: Eat Yoda
I think it’s actually some really bad luck to eat Yoda. But superstition aside, the work that went into this one gets a deep bow, Natalie. Talented, you are.
#8: Chicken Burger Cake
I don’t know about you, but this one actually makes me feel kinda nauseous. Super cool effect though. Very… juxtaposed?
#9: Bull Cake
I just heard a guy with a heavy Texas accent in my head saying “that’s bull cake” instead of “that’s bullish*t”. Might be a sweet substitute, no?
#10: I Get My Peaches…
Total art, I tell you. That’s it, I’m ordering one.
#11: Steve Carrell in The Office Cake
The facial features! The expression! Nailed it.
Natalie’s work is getting the attention it deserves – through her business and online. You can always follow her on Instagram to see more of her work.
Now let’s take a look at another artist named Luke Vincentini.
Luke Vincentini, Cake Artist
This man also has mad skill. His talent, however, shows up more in still life and inanimate objects. He brings pop culture into his work, and manages to fool people all the time with his creations.
#12: Carton Of Eggs
The texture he’s created is just unreal. For some reason I feel like this would be super satisfying to cut into.
#13: A Different Kind of Log Cake
This one is just beautiful and so natural looking. What nature lover (or logger?) wouldn’t love this cake?
#14: Strawberry Cake
So perfect. So detailed. I wonder if the inside is flavoured like strawberry? I think it would be kinda funny if it wasn’t.
#15: White Claw Cake
Wow, I can imagine basic babes everywhere screaming ‘woo-hoo’ for this cake! Yassss!
#16: Doritos Cake
Similar to the chicken sandwich above, this one also makes me feel a little queasy. Again, super satisfying to cut into though.
#17: Coffee Cup Cake
There’s something really classy and elegant about this one. You’re not cutting into your dog’s face, which is great. You’re also not looking at something that’s supposed to be savoury and greasy and then getting… cake. So that’s nice. Very pretty.
#18: Takeout Cake
I wonder if the chopsticks are made of cake. So many questions on this one. Which also brings up my curiosity around what the heck all of this is made out of?? Is this mysterious material supposed to be eaten?
Just kidding I’m sure it’s delicious!
You can reach out to Luke via his Instagram.
And if you can get your hands on a cake by either of these two incredible artists, we congratulate you. So curious to see what you’ll turn into a cake.
