They say the best things in life are free: love, the feeling of mutual respect, the smell of freshly cut grass, and winning a free photoshoot at your local Wal-Mart.
23 year old Torontonian Ben Kaplan was shopping at Wal-Mart in Dufferin Mall when he came across a peculiar looking stuffed animal in the snack aisle with the following instructions:
Returning the lost Teddy bear to the portrait studio, Kaplan learned that the reward was a free photo shoot in the Wal-Mart studio. Granted, the prize normally being claimed by children, Kaplan did what any normal 20-something-year-old would do when offered a free prize: take it for himself.
Surrounded by children’s props, Kaplan took up the opportunity to take some of the most bizarre Wal-Mart photos their employees had probably ever seen using his signature #UglySelfie,
Kaplan told Indie88 the idea behind the #UglySelfie:
“Instagram is a place where people show off their ‘best self’, so I use it to show off my worst self! That’s why I embrace the #uglyselfie“
