Thom Yorke shares remix of MF DOOM’s ‘Gazzillion Ear’

Thom Yorke has released a new remix of MF DOOM’s “Gazzillion Ear.”

The rapper passed away last year at age 49. No cause of death was released, but his wife Jasmine revealed in an Instagram post that MF DOOM had “transitioned” on October 31st. He even appeared on a posthumous BADBADNOTGOOD track. Lex Records was closely connected with MF DOOM, and he appears on a series of unreleased remixes from them called “Lex XX.” In honour of Lex Records’ 20th birthday, Yorke shared his own take on the MF DOOM classic.

“Daniel Dumile (RIP) was one of the most prolific artists on Lex, releasing three studio albums as lead vocalist and one as a beatmaker,” Lex Records explain. “We spent a huge amount of time with him in the 2010s. He’ll be missed always. J Dilla and MF DOOM only made a handful of tracks together. The best was “Gazzillion Ear,” built around a massive Giorgio Moroder sample.”

Listen to Thom Yorke’s remix of MF DOOM’s “Gazzillion Ear” below.

“Thom Yorke remixed the track twice,” Lex Records add. “The first version was originally released simply under ‘Thom Yorke Remix’ but he delivered it with the moniker ‘Monkey Hustle Remix’ to differentiate it from the ‘Man on Fire Remix,’ which gets its debut release 12 years after Thom delivered it.”

Thom Yorke’s “Creep” Remix:

Back in July, Thom Yorke also shared a dark, “Very 2021” remix of “Creep.” The dark new version of the tune is slowed down so much that it almost sounds as though a record is being dragged. Clocking in at over twice as long as the original cut, this elongated remix is definitely a lengthy feat. Surprisingly, the track’s credits read “Thom Yorke feat. Radiohead” so it looks like Yorke has truly made the track his own.
