Ticketmaster ranks Toronto as the top city in Canada for live music

31% of ticket sales were for Toronto

Ticketmaster has unveiled the top five Canadian concert cities according to volume of concert attendees, and Toronto has been ranked the top city in Canada for concerts and live music.

Toronto has clocked in at number one, with a whopping 31 per cent of concert-goers in Canada, and Vancouver came in second with 13 per cent. Following those two, Montreal clocks in with 6 per cent, Calgary with 6 per cent, and Edmonton with 5 per cent.

“We’re seeing that Canadians from coast to coast are huge supporters of live music, especially during summer concert season,” Ticketmaster Canada Managing Director Trevor Allin explains, according to blogTO. “I don’t think there’s anything better than seeing your favourite band perform on a summer’s night, and our data shows that Canadians couldn’t agree more.”

In addition to the top five Canadian concert cities, the research revealed that Canadians attend more concerts in July than any other summer month. Lastly, the study showed that 48% of ticket sales were for rock or pop artists, 11% were for alternative rock artists, 7% were for country, 6% for heavy metal, and 6% for comedy.
