Baltimore outfit Tomato Flower have announced their new EP, Construction, out August 5th via Ramp Local. As part of the announcement, they’ve shared the collections title track.
The dizzying new tune is a future-pop anthem. While melodically they channel the sound of the future, lyrically they sing of the past, looking at the technologized world through a critical historical lens.
The track revolves around twisting, disorienting instrumental lines and perfectly dissonant vocals.
Listen to “Construction” below.
The new EP is set to follow their debut, Gold Arc.
“Construction refers both to ‘constructedness’ – processes of artifice and social construction – as well as the material activity of building,” a press release explains. “Recorded in the same time frame as Gold Arc, the songs are intricate constructions of their own, melding irresistible melodies with rhythmic trickery, the quartet bends genre and palette at will; math rock, dub, and bossa might flash by within two minutes, and you still haven’t heard the outro.”
The physical release of the new Tomato Flower EP, out August 5th, will contain the music for both Construction and Gold Arc.
