Tommy Ramone Dies at 65

The last remaining member of the Ramones has passed away

Today is a sad day for rock music. Tommy Ramone, the last remaining member and original drummer of punk rock icons The Ramones – has passed away at the age of 65 according to the band’s Facebook page.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Tommy Ramone, the original drummer for the Ramones, earlier today,” the band said in a statement.

Erdelyi Tamas was born in Budapest, Hungary was the founding drummer of the band and also co-produced their first three albums (Ramones, Leave Home, and Road to Ruin). Tommy passed away late on Friday night in his home in Queens, NYC where he was battling cancer.

The other original band members passed away between 2001 and 2004 – Joey Ramone (Jeffrey Hyman) died of cancer in 2001. Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin) died in 2002 and Johnny Ramone (John Cummings) died of cancer in 2004.
