Toro y Moi announces new album, signs to Dead Oceans

Chaz Bear has announced his new album as Toro y Moi, which is set to arrive in 2022.

The announcement comes in celebration of his signing to a new label, Dead Oceans. Since 2010, Toro y Moi has been releasing albums on Carpark Records. Now, Bear has announced that he’s looking forward to collaborating with a new label.

“I’m excited to begin this next chapter with Secretly / Dead Oceans! Throughout the years they’ve continually maintained a conscious eye on the state of independent music and are pushing the boundaries of popular music. Thanks again to all my fans and supporters in making it this far with my music, your love and time is appreciated!”

This yet-to-be-titled album marks the follow-up to 2019’s Outer Peace and his mixtape Soul Trash.

Since then, Toro y Moi has remixed tracks from some pretty huge artists. In December of 2020, he remixed Caroline Polachek’s “Hit Me Where It Hurts” and HAIM’s “3AM.” Then, in March of this year he remixed Caribou’s “Home.”

In February of this year, Toro y Moi also announced that he would be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Underneath The Pine. To celebrate, he shared an instrumental version of the record on Bandcamp. The instrumental version of the collection truly captures Bear’s restless, nuanced sound. On it, he explores new textural soundscapes and complex, catchy melodies.
