Toro y Moi and Eric André have announced a new collaborative short film, Goes By So Fast.
The upcoming short film is set to serve as a companion piece to Toro y Moi’s forthcoming album, Mahal, out April 29th. Directed by Harry Israelson, the film will premiere a week before at Los Angeles’ Brain Dead Studios, where Toro y Moi will DJ.
The forthcoming short film is set to serve as a combination fiction, documentary, animation, and concert film. Featuring comedian Eric André, the film will follow some psychedelic adventures of Toro y Moi and co. as they embark on a journey together.
Watch the trailer to Goes By So Fast below.
In the trailer, André and Toro y Moi head out in a Mahal-themed Jeepny. The bright clip is pretty intoxicating in its entrancing colours and quickly moving, psychedelic scenes.
“Chaz, you’re my co-pilot,” André says in the clip. “You always have been and always will be.”
Mahal is set to feature previously released singles “Déjà Vu,” “The Loop,” “Postman,” and “Magazine.” The 13-track album marks Toro y Moi’s seventh to date, and serves as his first release since he signed to Dead Oceans.
“I wanted to make a record that featured more musicians on it than any other record of mine,” Toro y Moi says. “To have them live on that record feels grounded, bringing a communal perspective to the table.”
That sense of collaboration also extends to Goes By So Fast, which sees him joining forces with André.
