Online users of Apple’s wireless Airpods jokingly decided that wireless earbuds were a sign of wealth at the end of 2018, and now Toronto AirPod lovers and headphone loyalists will be protesting each other in public.
On March 30th, both Toronto AirPod owners and anti-AirPod users will meet up in Yonge-Dundas Square to make memes come to life. An event on Facebook was recently created called “Toronto AirPod Owners MeetUp,” and it refers to the gathering as “a celebration of not being a broke bitch.” In fact, they’ve even gone so far as to make a merch line for the controversial event.

In response to the bold event creation, those staying true to a hardwired connection have created a “Toronto Anti AirPod Owners MeetUp,” which will take place on the same day in the same place. The event explains that attendees will “share our collective disdain for Airpods, and…let Apple Air Pod users know that they ain’t shit.”
In addition to the protest, the pro-AirPod group intends to utilize the ability to share in a listening experience by collectively listening to Wu-Tang Clan’s “C.R.E.A.M.”
