Toronto International Buskerfest for Epilepsy

The Toronto Buskerfest is a vibrant festival experience, packed with art, music, and comedy that is lively and entertaining.

This year, the event will feature circus artistry, non-verbal shows, music, magic, fire jugglers, acrobats, aerial artists, clowns, daredevils, beatboxers, and more! It will be four full days of action-packed, non-stop entertainment, with fun for everyone!

Buskerfest is for a good cause, as the event is meant to raise awareness, support and funds for Epilepsy. It is the largest epilepsy awareness event in the world, and it has been running for 20 years. Admission is by donation to Epilepsy Toronto, and it will go toward funding services such as counseling, support groups, training, and educational programs.

There will be tons of local artists and performers at the festival, including Buster Canefield’s Circus of Industrious Fleas, Superfire, and The Little Big Top. Buster’s circus is a show full of magic, puppetry and flea training. Superfire is an all-girl fire show, featuring flaming hula hoops and other unique props. Finally, Little Big Top is a rotation of intimate shows located in the center of the festival grounds in a circus tent. These shows will have acrobats, knife juggling, illusions, and more.

Of course Buskerfest will have a stacked lineup of musical acts, including Paul Morocco and Ole, Farrucas Duo, Tallbeat stilt drumming Troupe, Mike Nagoda and Sidewalk Crusaders. The acts will be performing a large variety of musical styles, such as acoustic guitar, Latin and Brazilian style music, soulful blues, and more. Some of the acts are interactive, exotic, and full of musical mastery and unique visual comedy. There will also be returning favourite acts such as Jenny Jupiter, Silver Elvis, Twisted Ones, and more.

Due to the high success of Buskerfest, this year’s addition will include a Beer Garden, Hula Hoop Dance Party, and Buskers After Dark. The Beer Garden will be situated in the heart of the park at the gazebo. The Hula Hoop Party will be having a live DJ who will play live music while everyone swings. Buskers After Dark will be hosted at the GLB Beer Garden and it will feature music acts that will be playing until sundown.

There will be tons of fun activities for kids and just about everyone to enjoy. There will be a family fun zone, which will include face painting, balloon twisting, giant games and the “Be a Busker Zone.” This zone is an interactive spot for kids to get hands-on experiences in the art that will be performed, such as hula-hooping, aerial arts, bubbles and bouncing on a trampoline. It will be located in the north/west corner of Woodbine Park.

There will also be thrilling rides, games and bouncy castles in the midway of the park in the parking lot. Fun for the whole family.

The event will run on Labour day weekend from Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 2nd, and it will be held at Woodbine Park.
