Toronto mayor John Tory announced Tuesday that the city will cancel permits for all major events through the end of June, due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the City of Toronto is cancelling all city-led major events, festivals, conferences and cultural programs, and is also canceling all city permits for major events organized by external groups… through June 30th,” Tory said during a Tuesday media address. The decision means that the annual Toronto Pride parade, which was scheduled for June 28, will not happen as planned.
