Toronto public schools will offer free pads and tampons to students

Free tampons and pads will be in both secondary and elementary schools across the city

Toronto public schools will offer free menstrual hygiene products to students beginning this fall. The announcement comes as part of a growing movement to end “period poverty” among young people.

The Toronto District School Board voted this week to provide the service in all secondary and elementary schools across the city starting this fall academic year.

The school board will be partnering up the Ontario section of a national organization called Physical Health and Education Canada, which has a connection to pad and tampon suppliers.
