Toronto Syrian restaurant Soufi’s has announced that they are permanently closing after the owner’s son has started receiving death threats.

Last week, the owner’s son attended an Antifa rally outside of a Maxime Bernier event in Hamilton. The rally made major headlines after 81-year-old Dorothy Marston was referred to as “nazi scum” when entering the venue where Bernier was speaking.

After the event, news made its rounds that one of the protesters in the incident was the owner of Soufi’s’ son, which resulted in the restaurant receiving hateful messages. “As a result of numerous hate messages and death threats we’ve received over the past week, we’ve decided to permanently close our shop,” the restaurant announced on Instagram. “Our decision is made with a heavy heart in effort to maintain our family and staff’s safety.”
