Mayor John Tory says that he will support a recommendation to make face masks mandatory across Toronto for all indoor public spaces. The recommendation still needs to be approved by city council, but if it passes then the bylaw could come into effect next week.
Tory’s Tuesday morning announcement comes as Peel Region gets set to announce its own bylaw making it mandatory for residents to wear face masks, in the GTA’s latest step to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Wearing a cloth mask or face covering helps protect others from your germs & reduce the spread of #COVID19, especially in indoor public settings where we cannot maintain #PhysicalDistancing. More info: https://t.co/Ej6jUyz8WJ pic.twitter.com/GZQmBZOe2P
