Toronto’s Heaven For Real share blistering new dream-pop tune ‘Energy Bar’

Project of twin brothers, Mark and J. Scott Grundy, Heaven For Real have shared a new single, “Energy Bar.”

The track serves as the title track to their forthcoming album, which is out on September 16th via Mint Records. It’s a blistering new dream-pop anthem with driven, rollicking guitar lines. Throughout “Energy Bar,” Heaven For Real ask “Can You Believe It?” atop jangle-pop-tinged instrumentals.

“‘Can You Believe It?’ is one of the great intangible/rhetorical questions – the asker could be talking about a world-ending climate disaster or a BOGO sale – it is the title track as we felt like it encapsulated a lot of the asking and the feelings associated with this record,” Mark Grundy explains.

A friend of the band described Heaven For Real’s signature sound as “hyper college rock.” “I could see us veering in a million different directions,” Mark explains. “[But] we’re using guitar rock as something of a palette to draw from, dig into, a lane to drive in. This is where we’re at (for now).”

Mixed by René Wilson, the album was recorded at Port William Sound with Jonas Bonetta.

“The record is an analysis and an ode to the broader feelings of ‘potentiality’ – what could be, what things will mean, where things are going; the sense of wondering, questioning, attempts at growth and self-analysis and acceptance,” Mark Grundy adds.

In addition to “Energy Bar,” the forthcoming album features the previously released “Do Your Worst” and “Slow Clap.”
