Trainspotting director Danny Boyle is set to helm a biopic series that tells the story of UK punk icons the Sex Pistols, according to Deadline.
The six-episode limited series made for FX is based on guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Tales from a Sex Pistol, and it’s written by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge) and Frank Cottrell Boyce (24 Hour Party People).

The cast will see Anson Boon playing Johnny Rotten, Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, Louis Partridge playing Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, and Fabien Frankel as Glen Matlock.
“Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent,” Boyle explains. “This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture…where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion…and everyone had to watch and listen…and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols.”
