Canadian Prime Minister has announced the official date that cannabis will be legalized in Canada as October 17th 2018.
This comes one day after senators voted 59 to 29 in a historic move to legalize recreational marijuana. Orignally the federal government was eyeing a legalization date of July 1st, though that has since been moved back.
Cannabis will be legal in Canada beginning on October 17, 2018.
I’m so proud of the Cannabis Act – this historic legislation will end prohibition and replace it with a sensible, responsible and equitable cannabis policy.

In the meantime, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould warned Canadians that recreational use is still illegal. “I urge all Canadians to continue to follow the existing law until the Cannabis Act comes into force,” she said Wednesday in the House of Commons according to The Canadian Press.
“I would like to also remind the public that driving while impaired by drugs is, and will remain, illegal.”
More details about the roll out are expected to come in the following weeks.
