TTC, UP Express, limousine, regular taxi, and now Uber and Lyft have been added to the list of transportation options available to and from Pearson Airport.
The ride-sharing apps have been given a pilot allowance to operate to and from Toronto’s largest airport, a spot where they were not allowed to go before. Pearson says they have approximately 100,000 requests from ride-sharing users trying to travel to and from Pearson per year, “bolstered by the popularity of supporting services in adjacent communities like Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville.”
In a statement, vice president of customer and terminal services at GTAA, Scott Collier issued the following statement:
“Following significant demand from our passengers, we believe that a pilot of full ride-sharing options is timely at Toronto Pearson, and in line with other airports across Canada and the U.S. already offering this service.”
“We appreciate the collaboration of the ground transportation industry in sharing their feedback and welcome another opportunity to offer our passengers choice in their transportation options.”
As part of the pilot project, Pearson will be monitoring and reviewing the effects of the added service to evaluate how it affects other transportation providers.
