Unreleased Queens of the Stone Age Songs Accidentally Showed Up On Gordi’s New Vinyl

After purchasing her new album Reservoir on vinyl, Gordi fans on reddit pointed out that the B-side to her album contained a few new Queens of the Stone Age songs from their upcoming album Villains, some released and some unreleased. Both albums are due out on August 25, but through different record labels (Gordi’s is out via Jagjaguwar and QOTSA’s is out via Matador).

Chris Swanson from Jagjaguwar’s label family Secretly Group confirmed with Pitchfork that the surprise compilation was definitely accidental.

“This is a pressing defect that we’re working diligently to resolve as quickly as possible,” he told Pitchfork. “It’s not the first time this sort of thing has happened, but we’re all hoping it’s the last.”

The unreleased QOTSA songs that appeared on Gordi’s Reservoir include “Fortress,” “Head Like a Haunted House,” and “Un-Reborn Again,” while previously released “The Evil Has Landed” and “The Way You Used to Do” also made an appearance. All songs will appear on Villain.

Gordi shared a statement, jokingly explaining that she purposely wanted the QOTSA songs on her album.

“Obviously I was aware that the Queens of the Stone Age album was coming out the same week as mine and I was aware it would probably garner all the limelight, so the logical solution was to just chuck a bunch of their songs on Reservoir,” she said. “I anticipate either people won’t notice or they’ll appreciate the dynamic shift.”

Gordi has also shared a music video for her new single “Bitter End,” which you can watch below.
