Video: A tribute to Lou Reed by Jim James, Young and Costello.

Neil Young, Jim James and Costello pay homage to Lou Reed at The Bridge School Benefit.

Tragic news fell upon the shoulders of Neil Young last night before his second annual Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California. Lou Reed passed away after fighting a long battle with liver disease in his home in Southampton, NY.

Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young thought an appropriate way to commemorate Reed’s career was to do a tribute with the other musicians performing that night: Jim James, Elvis Costello, and Jenny Lewis. Jim James of My Morning Jacket commented saying “one of the greatest, composers, artists, musicians that ever walked this face off the earth… this one’s for you, Lou” and with that they went into “Oh! Sweet Nuthin” by Velvet Underground.
