Someone Made An Hour-Long Film About Voldemort’s Origin Story

Taking fan-fiction to a new level

Even in a fictional world with a backstory as comprehensive as J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, there aren’t enough pages in the real world to detail all it’s rich history.

That’s what one fan thought upon re-reading the sixth Harry Potter installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, when Tom Riddle’s backstory was brought into question. That gave Gianmaria Pezzato the idea to build her own backstory of Voldemort, the way many fan-fiction writers do, but with the intent of making it into a movie. After a very successful crowdfunding campaign and months of work, Tryangle Films finally put out a 52-minute long origin story about he-who-shall-not-be-named.

Pezzato initially ran into a copyright issue when Tryangle Films received a take down notice from Warner Bros., but they ultimately reached an agreement with the studio to release their gorgeous film for the whole world to see. Check out the unofficial fan film Voldemort: Origins of the Heir below:
