The advent of the smartphone has fundamentally changed the media and communication landscapes in ways we are still just beginning to understand. Arguably the biggest moment in this seismic shift towards handheld media consumption happened on this day ten years ago. On, January 9th 2007 Steve Jobs unveiled the very first iPhone with the promise of “Apple reinvents the phone.”
10 years later the promise has been fulfilled and then some, with mobile devices now becoming the “first screen” and the most dominant form of media technology today. To date, over one billion iPhones have been sold.
