Before Iceland’s eclectic genre-spanning singer/songwriter made her worldwide debut as a member of the Sugarcubes, Björk had a “rebellious” stage in high school. As you could probably guess, she was a member of an 80s punk band, which went by the name of Tappi Tíkarrass.
As Exclaim! reports: the band, which’s name translates to “Cork the Bitch’s Ass,” was active between 1981-83. Today, footage surfaced of Tappi Tíkarrass playing a song titled “Matahari” in 1982, featuring a teenaged Björk, five years before joining the Sucarcubes. Check it out below:
