'Aladdin' arrives in theatres on May 24

Disney’s forthcoming Aladdin live-action remake has already sparked a lot of controversy, from accusations of white-washing to Will Smith’s portrayal of the Genie. Now, we’ve gotten a deeper look into the land of Agrabah with a new trailer that offers up almost shot-for-shot remakes of classic scenes from the original.

The trailer sees Aladdin wreaking havoc in the streets of Agrabah, discovering Genie’s lamp in the Cave of Wonders, and taking Jasmine on a magic carpet ride as we get a brief preview of the classic track, “A Whole New World.” In addition to the remakes of those scenes, we also get a glimpse of Genie’s rendition of “Friend Like Me.”
