Watch: Björk explains the making of her AI-assisted score designed for a hotel lobby in New York

The never-ending musical piece is constantly changing based on weather, birds, more

Björk has composed a project with Microsoft AI to make a score for the lobby of New York City’s Sister City hotel.

The composition, which is called “Kórsafn,” plays a variety of selections composed by Björk based on what an AI camera sees from the hotel’s rooftop. The never-ending musical piece is constantly changing based on weather, passing clouds, birds, and more.

“As the seasons change, the AI learns about new and different weather events that influence various choral arrangements,” the video’s caption explains. “The birds return to NYC come Springtime, and the AI learns to recognize these flocks.”
