NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and Chance The Rapper are the perfect pairings. In early June, he surprised the entire NPR office by showing up for an acoustic session. Employees were literally running down the stairs when they announced Chance was there to perform.
Chance performed two songs, “Juke Jam” off 2015’s Coloring Book and a cover of Stevie Wonder’s 1974 song “They Won’t Go When I Go.” In between the songs he read a poem that he wrote on the drive over from his hotel to the NPR Music offices.
The Tiny Desk Concert was quite the departure from the 23,000 he performed in front of the night before.
