Watch: Charlotte Day Wilson releases video for new track ‘If I Could,’ announced debut album ‘Alpha’

Toronto’s Charlotte Day Wilson has officially announced her debut full-length album, Alpha, which is set for release on July 9th via Stone Woman Music. As part of the announcement she’s shared a video for her new track called “If I Could.”

“If I Could” is a powerful ballad that has minimal instrumental line that allows Wilson’s stunning vocals to truly shine as the track builds. Wilson offers up some vulnerable lyrics, delivering lines like, “Oh oh I bathed you/ Washed you off the seas that break you/ Rid you off the burden and you’d be free.”

The accompanying video, which was co-directed by Wilson and Kevan Funk, showcases a group of female rodeoers who change faces and identities throughout the video, interspersed with some home footage and shots of Wilson in various scenic settings.

The upcoming album is made up of 11 tracks, and it will feature her previously released singles, “Take Care of You (feat. Syd)” and “Mountains.”

If I Could will be a “journey of metaphor and earnest declarations, recollecting Charlotte’s inner struggles of love, growing, and breaking that she’s finally speaking to in a greater way,” according to a press release.
