It’s been one week since the legendary British singer, songwriter, actor and fashion icon David Bowie passed away. On January 10th, Bowie died after an 18-month battle with cancer which had been previously unknown to the public. His final parting gift was ★ (Blackstar), his album that came out two days before.
Fans worldwide have been attempting to fill the void that his death left through parades, gatherings and vigils. Bowie’s ★ has been played so much since it’s release that it hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts this weekend, — his first album to do so. Many have taken to remembering the late great Starman by covering his hits. Check out some of those covers below:
EL VY – “Let’s Dance”
Choir Choir Choir! – “Space Oddity”
Bruce Springsteen – “Rebel Rebel”
Elton John – “Space Oddity”
Jeff Tweedy, Corin Tucker and Mike Mills – “All The Young Dudes”
Arcade Fire – “Heroes”
Special mention to Fred Armisen who paid his respects this weekend on Saturday Night live:
