After many months of teasing, Death Cab For Cutie have finally pulled back the curtain a little on what they’ve been working on.
The Seattle-based group shared a new track today, “Gold Rush” the first track from their upcoming album Thank You for Today. In “Gold Rush,” Ben Gibbard sings about looking for “gold” in his old neighbourhood, but is struggling as it is undergoing gentrification (something we know all to well here in Toronto). “And they keep digging down, down/ So that their cars can live underground/The swinging of a wrecking ball /Through these lathe and plaster walls.” Listen below:
Thank You for Today is set for release August 17th.
