When we first heard Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (all ten of them) were coming to perform in the Stiegl Hidden Studio, we had no idea what to expect. When Alex Ebert and his 9 bandmates finally arrived one rainy morning, we were treated to one of the most energized performances we’ve ever witnessed.
PersonA, the band’s fourth album, marks a new beginning for Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. The “Edward Sharpe” part of the band name has been scratched-out on its cover, hinting at the band’s personnel changes along with a new more collaborative approach to songwriting.
“It felt time to really write – or at least be together while writing an album, and participate as a unit. You want to have a song that is what it’s supposed to be, in it’s purest existence… And it’s your job and obligation to figure out what that is.“
Ebert has stated that he considers the band’s live show their greatest strength, and there’s no better way to get a feel for their new music than watching them do what they do best. Watch the band perform two incredible new songs from PersonA (“Wake Up The Sun” and “No Love Like Yours”) live in the Stiegl Hidden Studio, in the video player above.
