Watch: Father John Misty performs new track ‘Tell It Like It Is’ in Brooklyn

A melancholic track from FJM

Father John Misty has been out touring with Jason Isbell, where he’s been debuting a bunch of new material like “Time Makes Fools Of Us All” and a track he wrote for A Star Is Born. At last night’s BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival, Misty performed another new tune, “Tell It Like It Is.”

He debuted the track in Detroit on Monday, but now we’ve gotten some up close fan-shot footage of the song. The track is dark and ominous, as Misty croons lines like, “If you tell it like it is/ Then lover, I will let you in.” “Tell It Like It Is” almost sees Misty taking on a The National-esque melancholy, with a simple, buzzing instrumental line.
