Watch: Favours share retro video for new track ‘Left Behind’

From forthcoming EP of the same name

Favours, made up of duo Jacq Andrade and Alex Zen, are readying their forthcoming EP, Left Behind, which is out later this year. Today, they’ve previewed the collection with a video for its title track.

The new-wave track is inspired by Favours’ love of DIY post-punk, as the pair deliver silky harmonies on top of catchy guitar riffs and dreamy melodies. The accompanying video comes packed with retro clips that feel as though they were shot on film, as Favours sing along to the tune in a room of mirrors, in bed, and in front of some miniature buildings.

“We created this track with guidance from Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene, production by Mark Andrade, as well as additional tracking and mixing by Alexandre Bonenfont,” Favours explain. “This collaborative approach allowed us to develop a new sound that amplifies the emotional elements of our music. This song’s concept is rooted in moving on and exploring new opportunities, much as we we as a band have restructured and shifted our approach to making music.”
