Watch: Gord Downie Performs ‘Love This Town’ With Joel Plaskett at 2007 Horseshoe Show

One of the greatest moments in the Horseshoe's 70-year history

We’re in a celebratory mood this week, all in the name of the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern’s 70th birthday. Check out Indie88’s look at the iconic venue’s storied history in our This Week in History series for a brief rundown of what’s made it one of this country’s most celebrated spots.

Toronto journalist Ben Rayner shared 70 memorable Horseshoe stories gathered from an array of musicians, journalists, local bookers, and various other music industry personalities in the Toronto Star this week. Jeff Cohen, the venue’s majority owner, listed late Canadian musical icon Gord Downie joining east coast rocker Joel Plaskett on stage for a performance of “Love This Town” as his most memorable moment.

It took place at the venue’s 60th birthday celebration in 2007. Thankfully, the moment has preserved via some decent YouTube footage. Check it out below.
