Green Day have shared the video for the song “Troubled Times” from Revolution Radio.
Though the song came out in 2016, recent events seem to have prompted the video which directly addresses the Charlottesville protests alongside other news clips. The urgency of this political statement accompanies frontman Billie Armstrong’s response to the hatred-fuelled demonstration of violence in the US, “I fucking hate racism more than anything. Music and social justice have always gone hand and hand with me.” In the midst of these truly troubled times he reminds fans, “The spirit of Green Day has always been about rising above oppression.”
