Watch: J Mascis Rocks NPR with Acoustic Tiny Desk Concert

Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis abandons the amp to create some acoustic magic

American singer/songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire J Mascis stopped by NPR on Saturday to perform some emotional tunes from his new album Tied to A Star, and a Dinosaur Jr. classic. J and his guitar gave low-key performances of “Stumble”, “Drifter” and “Heal The Star,” throwing Dinosaur Jr.’s “Little Fury Things” in the middle.

The NPR set list proved that the man who’s been around for decades owes his fame to more than just loud performances. He was ranked #86 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” 2011 list, and 5th on Spin’s list in 2012. This performance proves why.

J Mascis kicks of his UK tour December 2 in Zurich.
