The cover was filmed at Nashville, Tennessee’s RCA Studios, where Bird recorded her new EP, RCA Studio A Sessions. Bird has been playing this cover of “Black Star” at her shows for a while, but this is the first time it’s gotten an official release.
The performance video sees her and her partner and touring guitarist, Luke, taking center stage, backed by other band members. Bird and Luke deliver beautiful harmonies to the renowned The Bends track.

“The sheer love and pride I have for Luke,” Bird writes of the recording sessions on Twitter. “Everything I release these days comes with a joy from sharing such a magical studio with these people. I’m so grateful I get to share that with you in big and small rooms too. RCA live sessions out now!!!”
The new EP also features a cover of The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody” and a piano version of her track “Something American.”
