In a collaboration you’d a) never expect to happen, and b) could never because it’s so amazing, Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES joined The National last night for a performance of “I Need My Girl”.

While headlining at the Treasure Island Music Festival, Matt Berninger invited the Scotish singer up on stage at the San Fransico festival. Berninger, who is known for his sonorous voice, is well complimented on the duet rendition by Mayberry’s timid and glimmering vocals.

Berninger has been quite busy in the recent past. The National is currently in the process of writing and recording a new album; of which they already have 30 tracks to choose from. As well Berninger has been busy with his new collaborative project with Brent Knopf El Vy, who are releasing a new record November 2nd, with a subsequent tour.
