Lorde says that the album is all about summer energy and the spirit of nature. In a statement she shared earlier this week, Lorde explains that the forthcoming collection is “a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors.”
While Colbert couldn’t show the audience the cover art for Solar Power due to CBS regulations, Lorde explained the inspiration behind the image. “My friend just took it. It was just me jumping over a friend on a beach,” Lorde explains. “It was so joyful to me, it felt innocent and playful and a little bit feral and…sexy.”

Solar Power is “joyful and big and such a good thing to experience with a bunch of people,” Lorde explains. “I’m glad that the timing worked out that I can do a tour. It’s crazy.”
